Open Guest Essay Call - Deadline Extended

DEADLINE EXTENDED!

In lieu of a history lesson this week, we are opening Frightful open to essay submissions! We want to publish at least one more essay from the horror community this year. We'd love to publish more thank one, but right now we can only guarantee payment for one and we want to be sure to compensate writers for their work and time.

The essay can cover any corner of horror that you'd like. We love moving personal essays but if you have a weird, wild, well-written ramble, you can send that our way! Whatever you want to talk about. The only hard subject requirement is that it is about horror (preferably lit but if you talk about movies in conjunction with lit, that's fine too). If we get the funds, we will consider more work. Multiple submissions are accepted within reason. Simultaneous submissions are accepted. Submissions from your dog are fine too probably.

Payment is $25 per essay

The selected essay will be published between mid December 2023 and early January 2024. We look forward to reading your work!
